Pancevo town

Pancevo town

Pancevo is situated in the southwest of Banat, in the river basin of Danube, Tamis and Nadela. The mostly used road is Pancevo - Vrsac - Romanian border (E-94) that represents a part of the E-5 motorway (Budapest - Belgrade) and the E-70 motorway (Munich - Zagreb – Belgrade).

The most important regional roads are: Ulima – Bela Crkva, as well as a part of the road Timisoara -Buzias. The very important international railroad track Belgrade - Timisoara - Buceresti - Constanta also passes through Pancevo.

The region of Pancevo is characterized, on the one hand, by the preserved city nucleuses of the typical Pannonian towns and, on the other, by culture and tradition of rural life. Pancevo has two rivers, each with beautiful banks where some localities represent attractions like Forkontumac Island, which is the favorite picnic place of the inhabitants of Belgrade. The archaeological settlement of the oldest culture found in Vojvodina - Starcevo's Culture is situated very close to Pancevo. The Monastery Voilovica from the 16th century also represents a master-piece of architecture, and there are also the Uspenska Orthodox Church with icons of Konstantin Danilo in baroque style, the Preobrayenska Church with icons of Uros Predic in postbyzantium style, and the church in Omoljica that is one of the oldest. Surely, the most important destination is Deliblato's sandy terrain, of which one part belongs to the community of Pančevo.
