Kikinda is situated in the northeast of Banat, not far from the Romanian border. The most important roads are Zrenjanin - Kikinda - Senta (M-24), then Novi Becej - Kikinda - Nakovo - Romanian border.

Kikinda can also be reached by train. The most important railroad track goes from the direction of Subotica to Kikinda and continues in the direction of Zrenjanin and Pancevo.

Archaeological researches and remainders of material culture point out that people lived here even in the Bronze and Iron Ages. Near Idjos there is the locality Gradiste with objects of the Neolite age. Mokrin's culture that dates from the Bronze Age is also known.

When you arrive to Kikinda, you should visit the magnificent architectonic buildings among which stand out the City Hall from 1835 built in classical style, the Serbian Orthodox church of St. Archangels Mihail and Gavril and the Place of Worship Vodica at Tekije. Moreover, it is certainly worth to visit the famous protected mill of Suvaca, the Modern Gallery and The National Museum. In the Museum of Quartary, you can see unique exemplars of mammoth animals that lived during the Ice Age (famous mammoth Kika).

Kikinda is the town of tiles and the biggest factory of these products in Yugoslavia is located here. Kikinda's citizens make of tiles something more then just a building material.

Every year in Kikinda is organized the Simpozium Terra, where gather the most famous sculptors in Serbia. Kikinda has a hotel Narvik, that was once the best hotel in Vojvodina. Besides well equipped rooms, the hotel also has a winter swimming pool, sauna, solarium, trim center, and the national restaurant Lala's room is characteristic for the hotel.

The hunting areas in the community of Kikinda are rich with short venison, and the hunting ground is far and wide known by rabbits. A special value has the Mausoleum of the Čarnojević family in Rusko Selo.

In the town of poet Dusan Vasiljev and Jovan Popovic many manifestations are held , but the most famous are: The Days of Pumpkin, the World Championship in Rooling Eggs in Mokrin, the Lipar's Days in Srpska Crnja, a manifestation dedicated to a poet Djura Jaksic. In Kikinda, there is one of the most beautiful sport centers in Vojvodina with a hall, an opened and covered swimming pool, tennis courts etc.
