Zlatiobr montain, Serbia



A mountain of outstanding beauty with a mild climate, woodland glades, and rich grasslands with mountain brook and pines.
Zlatibor means
"golden pine". The first inhabitants of Zlatibor were the Illyrians, next the Romans and afterward the Slavs. In 1750 the first tourists arrived at Zlatbor, and the local knowledge of healing of many diseases goes back over a hundred years.
Mt. Zlatibor is a gently rolling highland with endless pastures and firgrant meadows. It is 230 km away from Belgrade. This location has been known as a
climatic spa due to its favorable environmental conditions numerous sunny days. It is the most visited mountain in Serbia with a large scale of opportunities for active holiday pursuits like
walking,
bike riding,
horseback riding, using the sport facilities or taking part in the special slimming and healthy life programs called

Mt. Zlatibor has many excellent hotel facilities ranking it among the best tourist destinations in Serbia. For smaller groups we suggest a combining a 7 day Cigota Program with a 7 day active holiday with guided tours to nesrby attractions. The most poular excursions from Zlatibor are those to SIrogojno, Sarganska osmica and the lake which is 20 km away. Here a widw variety of water sports can be enjoyed. Tours to one of the local villages where visitors can have a traditional lunch are also very popular. It is also possible to visit the town of Uzice, a well known producer of smoked ham.
Mećavnik



Mecavnik, ethno village, established by famous
Serbian film director
Emir Kusturica. This unusual town is located on
Mokra Gora, in
western Serbia, between mountains
Zlatibor and
Tara. It consists of wooden houses, precisely log huts, which preserved the authentic of this part of Serbia. Some of these log huts were carried from neighboring villages, which gives to Mecavnik a special charm, as they are named after the owners, like Vitorova house, Ostojica house…All these houses attracts with own exterior, but the interior also offers a feeling of warmth, because you can feel the love and attention invested in interior. It’s enough to know that all furniture in log huts is handmade, carved and imaginative illustrated, with decorative needle worked curtains on small windows. All rooms has bathroom, plasma TV, telephone. Part of Mecavnik is also a church, restaurant, souvenir shop, gallery,
cinema Underground, national restaurant, weave workshop, and many other things that makes your stay in this really special place unforgettable.

Sirogojno
Sirogojno is a village 10 km away from
Mt. Zlatibor. An
ethno village covering nearly 15 hectares has been created with authentic elements or ordinary life from this region from the 19th century. The ethno village display includes a bakery, dairy and inn, all in authentic form.
Sirogojno offers a variety of interesting activities including fashion shows of knitwear hand-made by Mt. Zlatibor women, evenings by the fire and summer school for learning traditional crafts such as pottery, knitting, mosaics and graphic skills.
Sirogojno -
the museum of National Archizecture, Staro Selo (
old village) is situated in the village of Sirogojno, 20 km soth of
Užice. It was founded in 1980 and it shows the architecture and interiors of old houses, the way of life of not just the people who lived on
Zlatibor, how they worked, lived and organized their families but also of the people of southwest
Serbia and the wooded hills of the region of
Dinarska, all in the open air. All the houses have been brought to the museum from villages and are furnished with authentic furniture, tools and goods, as are the yards.
Staro Selo includes almost 40 buildings made entirely of wood. One particular dwelling includes two small houses and yards with outhouses. This household is made-up of a typical high-roofed
Zlatibor log-cabin, with a smaller residence for younger family members.
Sarganska osmica - Shargan Eight

The romantic sound of a s team-powered train going through a beautiful countryside is not the
Orient Express Story but our reality. Not far away from the
Zlatibor and Tara Mountain is the
Sarganska Osmica or
The Figure of Eight of Sargan which is the narrow railroad shaped as a number eight (osmica).
The large elevation change in so short a distance will leave you breathless. Not far away from here is the village of
Emir Kusturica.
